The Only 2 Google Analytics Reports You Ever Need

As the proprietor of a successful website, you’re probably already familiar (if not best friends) with Google Analytics.

But if you want to significantly boost search traffic, it’s time to take your relationship to the next level. Get intimate with two important GA reports and you’ll see results fast.

First, set up your SEO reports by connecting your Google Webmaster Tools account to your GA account. In the dashboard, find “Search Engine Optimization” under the “Acquisition” tab. Then, click “Queries,” and choose “Set up Webmaster Tools Data Sharing.” After a few prompts, you’ll be able to view two very important reports via the “Search Engine Optimization” link.

Queries Report: Note the keywords most relevant to your business with the highest impressions and lowest click-through rates.

Landing Pages: This report shows you why specific pages are performing well on your site. Similar to Queries, focus on the pages with the highest impressions and lower click-through rates. Cross-reference this report with Queries to see which keywords are driving the top pages.

Once you’ve figured out which pages and keywords are doing best, use them to drive even more traffic to your site.

Increase the search ranking of your page for relevant keywords by adding the keywords to your title and meta description tag and including them in your landing page copy. Yes, you want to front load your title and description with keywords, but don’t forget to keep your site user-friendly and easy to read. Engagement matters.

Pretty soon you’ll be seeing big numbers. It’s the beginning of an (even more beautiful) friendship.
