You’ll have to spell it out hundreds of times. You’re going to type it every day. Heck, you’ll probably have dreams about it.
That’s why choosing the perfect URL is one of the most important decisions you’ll make during the early phase of building your company. Get it right the first time:
1. Brainstorm keywords. Think of every name combination that might work and check domain registries likeDomain.com or HostGator to see if your favorites are available.Bonus: You’ll look doubly professional if your URL carries over to your email addresses (boss@yourURL.com) and social media (@yourURL).
2. Clarity trumps cuteness. Squash the impulse to go super-clever with your URL — not everyone may understand your joke, and using direct language will boost your search results. Also important: can you pronounce it? Because you’ll be saying it a lot.
Now, at least your .com dreams won’t be nightmares.
